Managing Partner, GhBS
George Ghonos is the Managing Partner of GhBS and a seasoned professional with a career spanning five decades. He is a Chemical Engineer by education and has spent 17 years at Unilever and 23 years at McCain Foods.
During his time at Unilever, George held various positions including Assistant Manager of R&D Detergents, Industrial Engineer, Sales Manager for B2B detergents and Sales Director of Ice-Cream and Frozen Foods.
In 1992, George was tasked with introducing McCain Foods into the Greek food market. Despite the lack of corporate support and resources, George was able to grow the company into the market leader in both the Food Service and Retail markets in Greece, and later expanded into the Balkans in 2006. He served as Business Provider from 1992-1994, Country Manager for Greece from 1994-2006, Managing Director for Greece and the Balkans from 2006-2010 and Managing Director for South Eastern Europe from 2010-2015.
Currently, George serves as an Advisor to the board and board member of KRIVEK SA, and since 2017, he has been the Managing Partner of GhBS.
With his extensive experience and expertise in various industries, George continues to make valuable contributions to the business world.
Maria Ghonos
Managing Partner, GhBS
Maria Ghonos has worked at various companies and is currently the Managing Partner of GhBS. She has experience in marketing, sales, and management roles across different industries. Her experience starts at McCain Foods in Greece & USA, where she held various positions including Market and Competition Analyst, Media Planner and Field Sales Representative. She was responsible for Campaign Development, Customer Handling, Pricing, Trade Shows, New Product Development, Customer Service and Logistics Administration.
She then moved on to Diageo Hellas in Athens, Greece, where she worked as a Brand Manager for Smirnoff and Innovation Portfolio. She was accountable for developing and executing Category Strategy and Marketing Plans for the brands, including the development and implementation of Launch Plans, ATL, BTL, and Digital Growth Drivers. She was responsible for achieving brand and portfolio growth objectives in each market. Finally, she worked at British American Tobacco as Head of Brands for Greece, Malta, Cyprus, and Israel. She managed a team of 8 and was responsible for developing and implementing Portfolio Strategy and Marketing Plans to deliver business targets. She delivered 5-year plans and growth plans for all 4 markets, including consumer space analysis and research, competition, pricing, route-to-consumer model, and 360 consumer activation.
Currently, she is the Managing Partner of GhBS, a position she has held since 2018. With her diverse experience in marketing, sales, and management roles across multiple industries, she brings valuable expertise and insights to the business.
Avgerinos Skinis
Sales Manager, GhBS
Avgerinos has an extensive experience in the Foodservice business, working as Key Account Manager in leading companies such as Ifantis, McCain and now Salomon Foodworld. He has a deep understanding of both Wholesalers / Distributors as well as end-users / HORECA owners and chefs.
He has held positions in several well-known companies such as Coca-Cola Hellenic, McCain Hellas and Domain Glinavos S.A. He has also worked as a Key Account Manager for national accounts at both ICM and FCM and as an Assistant for Key Account FCM & ICM. Throughout his career, he has developed a deep understanding of the Wholesale and Ho.Re.Ca. markets, allowing him to successfully drive growth in his various roles. He has also gained experience in market development and new product categories, working at companies such as Ifantis S.A., K22 Global Traders, and “THES GALA” Dairy Company.
In his most recent role as Sales Manager at Salomon Foodworld, he is responsible for managing and expanding the company’s sales across the region.
